Finally coming off (what I hope) to be the end of rehab for my hamstring, I'm looking forward to this year in running. In the past, I've always trained for marathon racing. I've come to realize that I was only doing it because I could, and didn't particularly enjoy the training. For most of my life, I've struggled with this compulsion to do difficult things, just because they are difficult - and marathon is no exception.

So I broke up with marathoning. Let's face it - I was NEVER good at it. I'm more of a mid-distance / cross-country runner, so the ole 26.2 is a bit excessive for me. I'm also not too fond of losing all my toenails, which inevitably happens when I do double digit training runs several times a week. So here's to an adventure in shorter distances! I'm looking forward to the 2011-2012 racing season.
